Resumen

El primer reconocimiento clínico-conceptual en el área anglosajona de posibles psicosis en la infancia se atribuye retrospectivamente a B. Rush, 190 quien en su tratado de psiquiatría, publicado en 1812, estudia la «locura de los niños», y atribuye los trastornos de su comportamiento al estado inestable del cerebro. Otros autores clásicos del siglo pasado, y en este campo, como Clevenger 33 (1833), Kerlin 121 (1879) y Moreau de Tours 194 (1883) citan constantemente la «locura infantil» como debida a las más diferentes causas y de acuerdo con los conocimientos de la época: inestabilidad del sistema nervioso, traumas y traumatismos, herencia, modificaciones en el ambiente familiar, infecciones, etc.
